Résumé (EN)

"We model our understanding of logic and thought processes on our understanding of the social and physical world” ( Sweetser 1990). We create a theory of mind based on what we know of the world and this enables us to know what to expect in many given situations. We create metaphoric connections between the senses in order to solve historical puzzles. I have confined this paper to a looking at money metaphors and synonyms in the American Inaugural Presidential addresses and their links to the structuring themes in the corpus which reflect strongly held beliefs about money in the populace.
