dc.description.abstractenDemographic changes in the age structure of a population can have an impact on the economic outcome. In this sense, analysing the different periods of the demographic transition in a country can help in identifying windows of opportunity. Based on this premise, the objective of this investigation has been to build a panel data model to shed light on those elements that ought to be prioritized in the present African political agendas so as to maximize the gains from a demographic dividend (also called demographic bonus or gift) and, therefore, contribute to the poverty decline.en
